KDH Catering Design Concepts strives to offer their clients a service which spans design to handover, ensuring that the end product specifically suits the client’s individual needs, and is fitted with equipment that suits the requirements and budget of the operation. By appointing KDH Catering Design Concepts, the client is effectively “buying” a total of 75 years experience in the industry.

To achieve this, we perform a number of services. Firstly, a meeting with the operating team helps us to finalise the brief, after which we are able to design the operation in accordance with the Health Act #63 of 1977, as amended # 20318, on 30 July 1999.

Budget costs are calculated, then designs are finalised, indicating all service points relating to the catering equipment. Full specifications and tender documents are prepared and issued to the Quantity Surveyor, and once returned, we evaluate the tenders, and make our recommendations to the client. A meeting with the successful tenderer ensures that they are briefed as to the client’s requirements, and ongoing monitoring of the manufacturing progress avoids unforeseen problems at a later stage. During site meetings we co-ordinate services with other consultants and contractors, and any required revisions are identified and implemented.

Once the site is ready, we supervise delivery and installation, and any problems are identified on a snag list, which we resolve with the tenderer. The fully commissioned project is then handed over to the client, together with 3 copies of spare parts lists and operating manuals. Our tender documents specify that full training on all items of equipment with the relevant staff members is conducted, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, #85 of 1993.

We have had an increasing demand for guidance on the appointment of catering companies to certain of our corporate clients. To fulfill this demand, we have compiled a detailed tender document, spelling out menus, operating hours, costs and quality control that will enable catering companies to submit fixed prices for evaluation by our client and ourselves. This document is personalized to each project, allowing for individual corporate image and requirements.
